Leach Leaving Lubbuck Means It's No Longer House Of Horror For Sooners

Football News - J. Robert Byrom

LUBBOCK, TX -- Murphy's Law has been in full effect For the Oklahoma Sooners in Lubbock, Texas. Everything that could go wrong has gone wrong. Bad play, Bad Blowouts, Bad injuries and questionable calls among many other things.

The Sooners have not won in Lubbock since 2003. The have had no such trouble with any other division opponent.

The 2009 blowout was the least impactful of the three loses. In 2007, Tech knocked out Bradford early and in turn knocked OU out of the National Championship race.

OU returned the favor in 2008 by destroying Texas Tech in Norman and creating a three-way tie which eventually sent OU to the Big 12 & BCS championship games over both Texas Tech and Texas.

The 2005 Loss did not knock the Oklahoma Sooners out the national Championship picture, UCLA and Texas had already taken care of that but it did knock OU out of a BCS bowl costing the Sooners millions.

Most of the games in this series have not been close. Usually, the home team embarrasses the opponent with a few exceptions of course.

While, who will replace Leach is still unknown, it is a good thing for Oklahoma because trips to Lubbock can only become better, the certainly could not be any worse.

No Big 12 coach has a winning record against Stoops but Leach was second behind only make Brown in number of wins against Stoops.

Sooner fans can now sleep a little easier before the 2011 trip to Lubbock.
